The high tech combo of video and photo scans with classic acoustic guitar tunes and a banjo riff work to integrate a kooky story of pioneer survivalism. For those not familiar with the Cougar Annie story enough threads and songs provide a web that allows an arc through the show that makes sense. Those who know the true story will find it touching some of the key points, but necessarily light on some of the issues of abuse, hardship and pure mystery of how the hell they survived at all. Outside of an occasional mic malfunction, and pauses while one is obliged to read the scrolling text on the video display, the artist holds our attention with her solid voice, thoughtful lyrics, and time-hopping scene changes through body language and accent changes. A Fringe winner for sure.
